Contracting in Markham.

Markham combines heritage neighbourhoods like Unionville and Markham Village with the sprawling, well-built subdivisions of Berczy, Cathedraltown, and Cornell. The municipality has been one of the GTA's best-organized in terms of planning for thirty years and it shows in the consistency of the building stock.

Cathedraltown and Berczy carry detached homes in the $2M–$5M range with floor plates large enough for serious millwork, wellness suites, and home theatres. Cornell is a New Urbanist neighbourhood with smaller lots and finer-grained renovation work — the kind of jobs where an addition, a kitchen, and a primary suite turn a 2,800-sf home into a forever home.

Unionville and Markham Village are heritage Main Street neighbourhoods with restoration work that demands matched materials and methods. We work in both modes — large new homes one block, century homes the next.

Housing stock

Markham's newer stock is uniformly high-quality — engineered framing, deep insulation, good electrical capacity. Older homes near Main Street Unionville and Markham Village are heritage and often require materials and methods matched to the original. Cathedraltown and Angus Glen homes routinely carry features like wine rooms, home theatres, and indoor pools that need specialist work to maintain.

Permits & planning

Markham's heritage districts have specific architectural review processes; we know which alterations require Heritage Markham approval and which don't. The City of Markham's permitting is among the most predictable in the GTA — typically 4–6 weeks for standard residential permits.
